Occupational Therapy

The role of an occupational therapist at the Pediatric Center is to help promote a child’s independence by improving their overall skills and abilities. Our staff members work with families to design individualized treatment plans for each child. Our plans concentrate on:

  • Fine motor skills and coordination
  • Sensory and perceptual motor processing
  • Cognitive functioning
  • Activities of daily living skills

We incorporate several elements into our occupational therapy treatment such as:

  • Transition of movement
  • Ability to move independently within the environment
  • Design and fabrication of upper extremity splits to promote and enhance function and good alignment

Our occupational therapists emphasize fine motor function in relation to how the child interacts and explores his or her environment to develop cognition, problem-solving and psychosocial skills.
