The John A. Coleman School - White Plains Campus
Located in the heart of White Plains, the School is one of the largest providers of special education in Westchester County. Programs and services are provided at the school, at individual homes and in the community. We provide educational services to over 300 children from 25 school districts in the local geographic areas of Westchester, Putnam, Bronx and Manhattan.
Our curriculum is based on the New York Department of Education Learning Standards. The twelve classrooms on site at the school are organized and structured according to these Standards to provide a nurturing and safe environment. Our fundamental focus is to empower each child to achieve his or her greatest potential.
All teachers and assistants are certified by the New York State Department of Education; all teachers have attained a Master Level Special Education certification. Clinical professionals are trained in specialties such as neuro-developmental therapy (NDT), Sensory Integration and Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets (PROMPT techniques). Related services provided include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech/language therapy, vision therapy and counseling.
